Notes from the Underground v.6

Notes from the Underground v.6

The Concept:
Dogbowl Records asked me to create a cover for a compilation CD titled "Notes from the Underground." I submitted this design, as well as 4 others. For this image, I chose a young janitor working the night shift. Once the last subway has gone and building emptied of commuters, he can spare a few minutes to create the music that will one day bring him out of the underground and on to greater things. This image was rendered from the same file as v.2, but from a different angle and with different lighting.

Process and Tools:

  • Composed and rendered in Bryce 4.
  • Figure from Poser 4.
  • Keyboard, radio, pay phone, and bench are from Ray Dream.
  • The remainder of objects, including pillars, lights, and gratings, are all Bryce objects.
  • The abstract poster on the wall is one of my fractal images, altered in Paint Shop Pro and imported as a 2D object.
  • No post-processing except a hard light overlay in Paint Shop Pro.
