Quarks: Strangeness and Charm

Quarks

Higher Resolution: 800x600

The Concept:
This picture is in response to the theme scene "Quarks, Strangeness and Charm" at The Delphi Bryce Forum. In his Dark Tower series, Stephen King plays with the idea that our entire world is nothing more than an atom in a blade of grass in a far larger universe. What a fascinating idea! Quarks are tiny particles that tend to group in twos and threes in slightly larger but still overwhemlingly minute particles such as mesons. When the theme was announced, I instantly pictured quarks as living beings, strange and charming as they are, whirling around in a flowery meson.
